500 Miles

Heartfelt, adventurous and beautifully uplifting, 500 Miles is a moving British-Irish drama that blends humour, emotion and breath-taking scenery into one unforgettable cinematic journey. Warm, funny and deeply touching, this life-affirming road movie captures the power of family, resilience and finding hope in the most unexpected places.

Directed by Morgan Matthews, 500 Miles follows teenage brothers Finn and Charlie as they flee England after their parents’ separation threatens to tear the family apart. Determined to reach their estranged grandfather on Ireland’s rugged west coast, the pair embark on an emotional cross-country adventure filled with mishaps, unlikely friendships and moments of genuine heart. Shot against stunning Irish landscapes, the film combines naturalistic performances with sweeping cinematography and a gentle indie-folk atmosphere that gives the story enormous warmth and charm. Themes of forgiveness, belonging and reconnecting with loved ones resonate throughout.

Roman Griffin Davis delivers another standout performance following his acclaimed breakout role in Jojo Rabbit, while the ever-brilliant Bill Nighy brings wit and tenderness after beloved hits including Love Actually and Pirates of the Caribbean. Maisie Williams, famous for Game of Thrones, adds spirited energy and emotional depth. The film has already earned lots of praise from audiences and critics for its emotional storytelling, beautiful visuals and superb performances. It is one of those films we do so well in Britain, great characters, story, performances and of course great scenery.

If you enjoyed Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016) and What We Did on Our Holiday (2014) you are likely to enjoy 500 Miles.
