Johnny English

Explosively silly, gloriously chaotic and packed with laugh-out-loud moments, Johnny English is a spy spoof that revels in its own absurdity. Bursting with slapstick comedy and cheeky British charm, this riotous action-comedy parody proves that saving the world can be hilariously incompetent.

The film follows bumbling MI7 clerk-turned-agent Johnny English, played by the brilliant Rowan Atkinson (famous for the comedy hit Bean). After a disastrous incident wipes out Britain’s top spies, the hopelessly overconfident English becomes the country’s last line of defence. His mission: stop the mysterious French billionaire Pascal Sauvage from seizing the British crown. Along the way, English blunders through high-tech espionage, wild chases and undercover mishaps, aided by loyal partner Bough.

John Malkovich brings deliciously theatrical villainy as Sauvage (also known for the mind-bending drama Being John Malkovich), while Natalie Imbruglia adds glamour and intrigue as Agent Lorna Campbell (who appeared in the comedy film Johnny English).

With its playful nods to classic spy adventures such as Goldfinger, the film mixes exaggerated gadgets, outrageous physical comedy and witty British humour. Audiences embraced its family-friendly silliness, and it became a major international box-office success that launched a beloved comedy franchise.
