Savage House

Wickedly funny, lavishly stylish and deliciously chaotic, Savage House is a riotous period black comedy that bursts with razor-sharp wit and outrageous energy. Packed with scandal, decadence and biting satire, this gloriously eccentric and hilarious film transforms Georgian England into a playground of ambition, vanity and spectacular social collapse.

Set during the Jacobite uprising and a devastating pox outbreak, the story follows Sir Chauncey Savage and Lady Savage, a deeply dysfunctional aristocratic couple desperately trying to climb the social ladder while their crumbling estate (and marriage), teeter on the edge of disaster. As an important royal visit approaches, the pair plunge into increasingly absurd schemes involving duels, deception, gambling and extravagant excess. Director Peter Glanz balances dark humour with sumptuous period detail, creating a visually rich world filled with candlelit halls, extravagant costumes and wonderfully chaotic performances. Beneath the comedy lies a sharp exploration of class, greed, status and the desperation to appear successful.

The two leads are British acting royalty and shine brilliantly on the screen with both pathos and comedy. Claire Foy (The Crown and First Man) is wonderful as Lady Savage, while Richard E. Grant (Withnail and I and Saltburn) delivers impeccable theatrical anarchy and drama. Bel Powley (The King of Staten Island), adds charm and unpredictability.

The film has already generated strong buzz following its London premieres, with praise from critics and audiences for its eccentric humour, lavish visuals and captivating standout performances. It is the costume-drama, dark-comedy that you never knew you wanted, so come and enjoy it on the big screen.

If you enjoyed The Favourite (2018) and The Death of Stalin (2017) you are likely to enjoy Savage House.
