Book Club

If you love your romantic comedies with infectious warmth, uproarious laughs and heart-felt charm then the Book Club is for you. It celebrates friendship, second chances and rediscovering life's pleasures at any age! This feel-good ensemble piece is equal parts hilarious and touching, offering a refreshing story that proves life's next chapter can be the best.

The film follows four lifelong friends, Diane, Vivian, Sharon and Carol, whose lives are turned upside down when their monthly book club selects the steamy bestseller Fifty Shades of Grey. What starts as cheeky reading soon sparks renewed confidence, revived romantic interests and bold takes on love, relationships and living life to the full. Set mainly in sunny California, Book Club balances witty banter with emotional insight, exploring themes of friendship, ageing, self-discovery and the joy of embracing new beginnings.

Headlining the wonderful cast are Diane Keaton, beloved for Annie Hall (1977), bringing her iconic charm; Jane Fonda, star of Barbarella (1968) and Grace and Frankie, delivering sharp humour and heartfelt moments; and Candice Bergen, known for Murphy Brown (TV) and film work like Boston Legal, who helps knit the ensemble together with brilliant comic timing. Mary Steenburgen, who appeared in The Help (2011), rounds out the cast with warmth and wit. Book Club was a solid box-office success, grossing over $100million worldwide on a modest budget and proving that stories about mature women's lives and loves resonate widely with audiences.

You might enjoy the Book Club, if you liked The Jane Austen Book Club (2007) and Calendar Girls (2003).
