Mother’s Pride is perhaps the feel-good British comedy-drama of 2026 and certainly one that will have you cheering from the first laugh! This warm-hearted celebration of community, family and proper pub spirit delivers laughs, charm and depth in equal measure, perfectly capturing what makes British cinema so irresistible.
Set in a struggling West Country pub, Mother’s Pride follows the Harley family as they grapple with loss, local rivalries and the threat of closure. When father Mick and his sons decide to take matters into their own hands by brewing their own real ale and entering the Great British Beer Awards, what starts as a desperate bid to save the boozer becomes a joyous adventure in reconnecting with each other and the wider community. With its rich blend of humour, heartfelt emotion and recognisably British storytelling, the film explores themes of resilience, belonging and the simple pleasures that bring people together.
The wonderful ensemble cast is full of beloved talent who are all on top form. Martin Clunes (Doc Martin and Manhunt) brings warm gravitas as Mick, James Buckley (The Inbetweeners and White Gold) shines as one of his spirited sons, and Gabriella Wilde (Poldark, Endless Love) lights up the screen with heartfelt charm. Supporting turns from Mark Addy (The Full Monty) and Luke Treadaway (A Street Cat Named Bob) round out a superb cast. Audiences have already responded with early buzz about its witty script and uplifting tone, making Mother’s Pride one of this year’s most warmly received British releases. Prepare to be enchanted, moved and to laugh your socks off. What could be more British than a film about beer and a pub, great British cast and our own British sense of humour. Cheers and mine is a pint of Mothers Pride real ale!
If you enjoyed great classic British comedy drama films such as The Full Monty (1997), Finding Your Feet (2017), Fisherman’s Friends (2019) then this is definitely one for you!
