DreamWorks’ newest animated fantasy-adventure comedy Forgotten Island is an absolute visual wonder, sweeping audiences away on a magical, heart-warming journey like no other! Vibrant, emotionally charged, and endlessly inventive, this captivating spectacle delivers top-tier entertainment for all the family from start to finish.
Set in the 1990s, the story follows inseparable best friends Jo and Raissa, who stumble through a portal into Nakali, a mystical, hidden island bursting with Philippine mythological creatures. Facing a heart-breaking dilemma where returning home costs them their shared memories, they must race against time to escape before forgetting each other entirely. Strikingly animated with a lush blend of painterly 3D art and retro, anime-inspired 2D sequences, the film eloquently explores themes of memory, growing up, and enduring friendship.
The voice cast are excellent with H.E.R. (The Color Purple) shining as the rebellious Jo, beautifully complemented by Liza Soberano (Lisa Frankenstein) as the intelligent Raissa and Dave Franco (Now You See Me) as a hapless local creature. Earning standing ovations and glowing critical acclaim for its cultural richness, brilliant humour, and emotional depth, it stands as an instant animated classic for all the family.
