Wicked: For Good (2025) is a dazzling musical-fantasy adventure that soars with emotion, magic, and big-screen spectacle. As the second instalment in the hugely successful cinematic Wicked saga, it once again it delivers both heart and power in equal measure.
The film follows Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) in exile, demonised as the Wicked Witch of the West, as she secretly fights for the oppressed Animals of Oz, while Glinda (Ariana Grande) basks in her radiant popularity at the Emerald City palace. Their fractured friendship becomes the emotional core: with Glinda trying to broker a reconciliation, even as political tensions and the Wizard’s rule drive a dangerous wedge between them. Stylistically, the movie is rich with lush production design, sweeping cinematography, and bold musical numbers, combining fantasy glamour with the grit of rebellion. Themes of identity, friendship, power, and redemption ripple through the story, asking how far “good” goes when truth is suppressed.
Cynthia Erivo, known for her luminous performance in Harriet, brings both fire and vulnerability to Elphaba. Ariana Grande, beloved for her turn in Don’t Look Up, shines as Glinda with effervescent charm. The film also features Jeff Goldblum (the Wizard), renowned for his role in Jurassic Park, and Michelle Yeoh (Madame Morrible), a star of Everything Everywhere All at Once.
