The return of the ever-popular Comedy Nights with
plus Mark Dolan, NickWilty and Karen Bayley
Simon Evans is a dapper gent with general dislike for the Welsh. And northerners. In fact anything that isn't his stately manor. But he isn't one sided, as he's more than happy to rip into himself at the first opportunity. He has headlined every decent comedy club in the country over the course of his 15 years and counting career.
He is a principal writer for Lee Mack's sitcom Not Going Out, the panel show 8 Out Of 10 Cats, and Armando Ianucci's Charm Offensive on Radio 4. He has also written jokes for Lee Mack, Dara O'Briain and Sean Lock.
His intelligence has put him in good stead too when he appeared on the Krypton Factor and was part of the comedians team on University Challenge – The Professionals. Simon is also a Radio 4 regular, having written and performed on The Way It Is, and featured on the News Quiz and The Unbelievable Truth.
It's almost a surprise that more people don't talk about Simon Evans as one of the most popular comedians around. The problem is you've probably laughed at one of his jokes without knowing it. Seeing Simon Evans perform will make you realise just how good he is.
Also tonight we have on stage:
JMark Dolan is a comedian, writer and TV presenter. Most recently he fronted a brand new series lampooning the world of ads, in Channel 4’s Mad Bad Ad Show. This followed three series of the hugely popular Channel 4 documentary series, The World’s…and Me, which featured the world’s smallest, tallest and hairiest people, as well as the most surgically enhanced woman!
Mark is also the host of the iconic Channel 4 comedy show Balls of Steel, which still airs nightly on 4 Music. Mark launched both E4 and More 4 respectively as host of the comedy show Show Me The Funny and as anchor of the late night topical talk show The Last Word. He also just completed a five year stint as host of Sky’s flagship movie show 35mm.
His first big break came in 2000 when he starred in and co-wrote The Richard Taylor Interviews, the hidden camera job interview show for C4. In the same year, Mark reached the final of the C4 live stand-up competition So You Think You’re Funny.
Nick is known as the "Globetrotting Comedian" for good reason. He has performed on every continent except Antarctica (although he did a show in Tierra Del Fuego!), and has done shows in all major Festivals, including Edinburgh (6 times), Glastonbury (5 times), Auckland (twice), Wellington, Melbourne, Adelaide, Montreal (Just For Laughs), Vancouver, Edmonton, San Francisco, New York, Amsterdam, Cape Town & Hong Kong.
Nick has won several awards, including the Polo Mint Comedy Award, voted by fellow comedians and club owners in England, and Best International Act in San Francisco.
